What Customers Say About TRENDnet TEG-S80TXE 8-Port 10/100/1000 Mbps Copper Gigabit Switch:

No fan but no problems with heat. TRENDnet TEG-S80TXE 8-Port 10/100/1000 Mbps Copper Gigabit SwitchWe just installed our second TRENDnet 10/100/1000 switch. These are awesome. The switch is quiet. Less expensive than many 5-port switches. They handle mixed 100 and gigabit traffic with no problems.

The blue metal box is nice. The first one has been running since July 2008. Allow some room for airflow. Just take it out of the box and plug it in. Gigabit connections and 100 MB traffic all work seamlessly. They stack easily.

Great price - great switch.

This is a great switch that runs cheaper than Netgear, looks better, and performs just as well. The metal case is well made and sturdy and I much prefer the color to other switches, even if that is just aesthetic. I have both brands of 8 port switches and I'll continue to buy Trendnet from now on. The link lights on the front are nice for a home network panel where the plug-in side of the switch may not be visible (rendering the Netgear's link lights useless). Comes with rubber feet (stick-on, you install) and the rear mounting screw holes are better than others I have used, esp. the Netgear.

I have 2 of these to create a gigabit network in my house for video transmition and for my Network storage. One is the original version and the other is a later version. Both are running great for more than 2 years. This is the best deal in town on a gigabit switch. Only note is they must have air ciculation to stay cool.

I've got two of these, running for several months now. Not a single problem.

It is my favorite color (blue). The case on the Trendnet is more solid.

The Dlink was running way hot, especially as my cat loved to sleep on top of it. I bought this one to replace a Dlink gigabit switch in my home network.

So the cat doesn't sleep on it as often. It died, no doubt because of the heat.

This one is still warm, but not nearly as hot. It is quiet (fanless).

And it has 8 fast gigabit ports and is very affordable.
